In order to complete its team, the Institute of Earth Sciences is looking for a graduate assistant to study the process of mixing between solutes at a displacing front through a complex porous medium.

Job information

Expected start date in position: 01.02.2023 or upon agreement and obtention of visa (for foreign candidates)
Contract: 1 + 2 + 2 years, maximum 5 years
Activity rate: 80 %
Workplace: Institute of Earth Sciences, Faculty of Geosciences and Environment, University of Lausanne

Your responsibilities

50% of the activity (minimum) will be dedicated to the research activity and training. The candidate will conduct personal research dedicated on performing laboratory and numerical experiment to study the impact medium structure on mixing rate and state at a dynamically displacing front.

50% of the activity (maximum) will be dedicated to the institute as teaching assistant.

Your qualifications

The candidate must hold a Master in Physics or Mechanical Engineering or Civil & Environmental Engineering or related field with specialisation on fluid mechanics at low Reynodls number and microfluidics fabrication and use for optical quantification of flow-driven phenomena.

The ability to do independent laboratory work using novel microfluidics techniques is required as it is the knowledge of English.
