Position Details (PhD Research Project)

The University of Turku is an internationally recognized multidisciplinary research university that offers challenging work opportunities and a unique perspective on both Finnish and global science and education.We are now looking for a Doctoral Researcher / Project Researcher in Biotechnology. The position starts on 01.05.2025 or as agreed, and the fixed-term employment is tied to the duration of the project, ending on 31.12.2026. The employment contract for the Project Researcher will continue until the doctoral study rights are obtained.A recently started project at Biotechnology focuses on developing new immunocomplex (IC) antibodies and validating them for hormone analytics. The Doctoral Researcher’s tasks are aligned with this Business Finland-funded R2B project objectives and involve developing antibodies using phage display technology, producing antibodies and recombinant proteins in different expression systems, and working on immunoassay development.

RequirementsWe require the applicant to have a higher education degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, or a related field, as well as motivation to pursue doctoral studies. The selected person must have prior experience in molecular biotechnology and diagnostic methods, especially in antibody handling, protein analytics, and post-processing techniques, including the technical solutions and systems used in these processes.Experience with immunocomplex antibody production and characterization methods is considered an asset, as well as familiarity with protein labeling techniques and lanthanide-based immunoassay development and optimization.In this position, you will apply for the study right for doctoral studies at the University of Turku in the next call (in this case in spring/autumn 2025).
