YOUR TASKS
- You lead a research project on the strategic, tactical, and operational management of resources in relation to industrial production processes: project planning and coordination, leading the research team, safeguarding scientific quality, communication and reporting, management of resources, and administration.
- You provide substantive support to this project as assigned to Ghent University: developing an architecture to validate the impact of strategic and tactical decisions at the operational level, and embedding flexibility at these different levels to accommodate disruptions in planning.
- You dedicate at least 50% of your assignment to scientific research in the field of production and workforce planning with practical relevance. The primary objective is to develop a tool that is useful for the Flemish industry to ensure better resource management across the different decision-making levels, and to publish research in highly regarded scientific journals.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

You hold a thesis-based doctorate in the domain of Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics. The diploma requirement must be fulfilled by the time of appointment.

For degrees obtained outside the European Union, an equivalency certificate from NARIC must be submitted.

You have an interest in scientific research and the associated work attitude (critical thinking, scientific writing, methodological depth, ability to work independently).

You have solid knowledge of and experience with mathematical modeling, programming, and optimization techniques for planning applications.

You possess strong didactic and communication skills.

A thorough command of English is required, as writing and presenting (at conferences) are conducted in English.

You take responsibility and have a strong ethical awareness, both in social interactions and in relation to scientific research.
