Development of a computational tool for design and analysis of floating offshore wind turbines
Position Details (PhD Program)
In recent years, significant attention has been given to the development of marine renewable energy. Development of a computational tool for design and analysis of floating offshore wind turbines is offered at University of Dundee
Content
The offshore wind energy, in particular, has experienced remarkable growth and continues to expand world-wide. Fixed offshore turbines are limited to shallow waters near shores.

Floating turbines in deep water, however, offer some distinct advantages over fixed structures, including:
- access to more powerful wind resources farther offshore,
- elimination of visual impact,
- further flexibility in site selection
- a versatile, integrated hull design solution that can be applied at different sites, and (v) easier installation procedure.
