Artificial Intelligence
Position Details (PhD Program)
The National Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence at Politecnico di Torino addresses a central theme for the digital transformation of society. Its objective is to mobilize the national community towards a comprehensive educational path centered around Artificial Intelligence (AI) and to stimulate research and industrial and social innovation in the country.
The general objectives of the National Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence at Politecnico di Torino are:
- Build a community of young researchers specialized in the complex world of AI, promoting their distribution at both territorial and disciplinary levels.
- Foster multidisciplinary exchange of experiences among the network nodes through periods of educational and research mobility for the Ph.D. candidates.
- Integrate and strengthen the Italian network of AI research centers, aligning with the European program ICT-48-H2020 ‘Towards a vibrant European network of AI excellence centers’ and the European strategy for AI development.
Career opportunities
Thanks to the coordinated horizontal/vertical structure of five federated Ph.D. programs, the National Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence will train researchers, innovators, and professionals who ensure an integrated and ‘complex’ view of the AI technology and solution ecosystem. They will tackle problems with a holistic and multidisciplinary approach. This new generation, permeating the research and innovation system, both in industry and the public sector, is necessary to accompany an effective and sustainable digital transformation of society.
All major observers, both public and industrial, especially at the European level, highlight a significant shortage of ‘AI talents,’ specialists in AI who can innovate both in terms of AI technologies and their adoption in specific domains.
Regarding the ‘Industry’ area addressed by this Ph.D. program, focused on technologies that will drive the future production fabric and have received a strong boost from AI and Data Science methods, the demand for skills is significant in all productive sectors.
Research topics include:
- Research topics in artificial intelligence
