This Creating Futures (Project 1)- Exploring primary teachers understanding of the creative industries and how this informs practice project at University of Dundee specifically seeks to explore primary teachers’ experiences and understanding of the creative industries and how this informs their practice.

It will also explore the experiences of second-career teachers (SCTs) who have prior experience in the creative industries and the impact this has on practice and the school community.

This is an under-researched area and there are therefore a variety of ways that the topic could be approached. We are keen to hear from people with an interest in qualitative and participatory approaches and the bricolage, as well as those with an interest in creative methodologies and methods.

  • We invite applications from strong and motivated candidates who are prepared to take a leading role in the project. We envisage students having a background in Education or a relevant subject (e.g. arts education, the arts, humanities, business and management). The specialisation in the research degree would be in Education, and the project would be suitable for a PhD or a Professional Doctorate (DEd) degree.
