Position Details (PhD Research Project)

Faculty of Information Technology is seeking to recruit a Doctoral Researcher in Quantum Programming starting 1.3.2025, or as soon as possible after that until 30.9.2026. The fixed-term position is for project work and completing doctoral studies.Securing the Quantum Software Stack (SeQuSoS) -project combines the research power of universities with the innovation potential of several companies. The project will explore how the tried-and-true methods for securing our classical computer systems can be applied to quantum computing. The project will also explore what new issues quantum computing brings in the context of cybersecurity and how these new challenges can be tackled. The research will cover the cybersecurity of both quantum SW and HW and build on the results of earlier collaboration in the TORQS project.

Who we are looking for

The tasks of a Doctoral Researcher focus on research aiming at the completion of a doctoral thesis (including programming tasks, security analysis and scientific reporting of results), doctoral studies, assisting teaching tasks, and other related tasks to these. The duties, qualification requirements, and the language skills of Doctoral Researchers are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines (Doctoral Students). A good command of English is required. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.The eligible candidate has, or is about to obtain, a suitable Master’s degree, practical programming skills and understanding of security in software work. In addition, the Doctoral Researcher must have a permission for post-graduate studies at the University of Jyväskylä. If the applicant does not have permission for post-graduate studies, it must be applied with a separate application procedure from the Faculty of Information Technology after selection for the position.
