We are seeking a Doctoral Researcher or Project Researcher to the Department of Psychology for a fixed-term period of February 15, 2025, or as agreed, until December 31, 2026.The position is part of the SUCCESS project funded by the Research Council of Finland the Academy Programme for Sport Science and Physical Activity ACTIVE.Tasks and RequirementsThe project aims to promote brain health, particularly in contact sports, and to identify markers for predicting and detecting the effects of repeated head impacts on the brain.We are looking for a Doctoral Researcher or Project Researcher who will conduct data collection using brain imaging methods and physiological measurements together with the project team. The tasks will also include the preparation of measurements and data analysis. The position will be filled as either a Doctoral Researcher or a Project Researcher, depending on the selected candidate’s career stage. The topic of the doctoral thesis will be tailored to align with the project’s themes within neuroscience.The duties of a Doctoral Researcher will focus on research toward the doctoral dissertation, postgraduate education, and related tasks. Good oral and written English skills are required, as specified in the criteria for admission to doctoral studies.Applicants for the Doctoral Researcher position must hold a Master’s degree and have or be eligible for postgraduate study rights at the University of Jyväskylä. If the selected candidate does not yet have postgraduate study rights, they must apply separately within the relevant application periods. Students nearing the completion of their Master’s degree are also encouraged to apply, provided the degree is completed by the start of the position. Applicants for the Project Researcher position must hold an applicable higher education degree (for example neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, behavioral sciences such as psychology and sport sciences, or information technology, engineering, medicine, life sciences, or other relevant fields of study).The position also requires sufficient knowledge of physiological and/or brain research methods, strong organizational skills, the ability to work with research participants, and proficiency in quantitative research methods. Experience with MEG and/or MRI methods is considered an asset.The tasks, eligibility criteria, and language proficiency requirements for a Doctoral Researcher are defined in the University’s regulations and language guidelines.A six-month trial period will be applied to new employees.What we offerAt the University of Jyväskylä, you will be a valued member of an academic community that offers opportunities to contribute to international research. The starting salary for a Doctoral Researcher is approximately 2500 € per month. As the doctoral dissertation progresses, the salary will be adjusted in accordance with the university’s collective agreement.
