Position Details (PhD Research Project)
The Electa Ghent research group is one of the 14 research groups of the Faculty of Engineering Technology at KU Leuven, Ghent Campus. The group is part of the ESAT cluster Electrical Engineering. The research is situated in the field of electrical energy technology. Within the group, expertise was built up through various research projects in areas such as autonomous hybrid energy systems, industrial datacom and security, PV metrology, industrial energy metering, LVDC and light electric mobility.

We are looking for a motivated and talented PhD student to join our team. The candidate will work on novel protection methodologies for low voltage, industrial, hybrid AC/DC grids that enhance the availability and resource efficiency of industrial factories. Although the potential of DC grids for industrial use cases has been proven, there are still many relevant open research questions regarding the sizing and protection methodology.
