Context

Road traffic collisions are a leading cause of death worldwide; indeed, road traffic injuries are the number one cause of death for children and young adults aged 5-29 years, and, more than 90% of these deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. The UK Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety offers five pillars of action for creating safe roads and culture, including post-crash response.

A lot of work is to be done in

  • exploring the possible roles of minimally assisted for casualties’ extrication
  • bystander education and training.
