MS and PhD Position: preparation of chitin-based materials as alternatives to synthetic plastics
Position Details (PhD Research Project)
If you or anyone you know are interested in pursuing a PhD in Plant and Soil Science (Texas Tech) starting in 2023 let me know! I am looking for a new MS/ PhD student in the at Texas Tech University, Department Plant and Soil Science Fiber and Biopolymer Research Institute (FBRI)
The research will focus on chemistry of biopolymers (with an emphasis on chitin polymer), and understanding key factors related to the preparation of chitin-based materials as alternatives to synthetic plastics. A student will have an excellent opportunity to gain technical/analytical background in FT-IR spectroscopy, Rheometry, TGA/DSC analyses, pXRD analysis, particle size analysis, polymer molecular weight determination, etc. The end goal of the work is a portfolio of chitin based materials.
If you’re interested in working on this research topic in my lab, send me your CV or resume along with a description of your research interests via e-mail ([email protected]).
