Position Details (PhD Research Project)

At the Institute of Solid State Electronics, Research Unit of Optoelectronic Materials, TU Wien, a position as a project assistant (prae-doc) is offered jointly with a large European semiconductor manufacturer until 31.01.2028 for 30 hours/week. Expected start: December 2024. The group of Prof. Alexander Grüneis conducts research in growth and spectroscopic characterization of 2D materials. The specific project deals with the growth and spectroscopic/electrical characterization of novel insulating fluorides on semiconductors and metals. Tasks:

– Research in growth and characterization of novel crystalline insulators for gate dielectrics
– Photoemission and optical spectroscopy measurements
– Capacitance-voltage measurements
– Maintenance of ultra-high vacuum equipment (molecular beam epitaxy)
– Teaching
– Coding
– Instrument automation (python)

Profile:
——–
– Excellent understanding of semiconductor physics and device
– Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in one of these fields: electronic devices, electronic structure, epitaxy, scanning probe techniques, surface science
– Skillful and responsible in experimental work
– Experience in some of the following scientific fields: electronic properties, photoemission, spectroscopy, growth of thin films
– Very good skills in English communication and writing
– Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
– Very good communicative skills and team competences and innovative ability
