Position Details (PhD Research Project)

At the Institute of Mechanics and Mechatronics, in the Research Group for Regelungsmethoden-Antriebssysteme TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant prae-doc (all genders) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: October 2025.

Tasks:

  • Research and project activity in control methods in the areas of mechatronic, traffic, energy, and automotive systems; Focus is laid on distributed system control (e.g., multi-agent systems and/or distributed-parameter systems)
  • Writing a dissertation and publications
  • Participation in scientific events
  • Guidance of students
  • Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
  • Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in a related field (e.g., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, …)
  • Experienced/Skilled in the scientific method
  • Experience in control theory and applications in mechatronic/traffic/energy/automotive systems is desired/beneficial
  • Very good skills in German and English communication and writing
  • Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
  • Very good communication and team skills and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,786.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week.
