Position Details (Postdoc)

The research group Allergy and Clinical Immunology is part of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Transplantation (KU Leuven, Biomedical Sciences Group). The research of this team is situated around four major topics: upper and lower airway inflammation, gut inflammation, anaphylaxis and tolerance induction. The laboratory is highly translational and both murine models and human in vitro and ex vivo experiments are performed. The laboratory is looking for a doctor-assistant to support the clinical principal investigators with their research and teaching activities.

Responsibilities
——————
The candidate:
– should be prepared to oversee data storage by data monitoring plans of all experiments related to the different research group PIs.
– will be involved in guiding both master and PhD students with their experimental plan, related to cell culture techniques, in vitro cellular stimulation techniques, protein expression (e.g. flow cytometric based) and mRNA expression.
– will specifically assist in the design and development of experiments/projects related to barrier function disease and/or anaphylaxis.
– will be involved in teaching undergraduate and graduate students techniques related to cellular and molecular patterns related to (mucosal) immunology.

Profile
——————
– You preferably have a PhD in cellular/molecular immunology and an understanding of mucosal diseases.
– You have several years of relevant experience in the research field of immunology
– Through your research you have gained an understanding of mucosal diseases
– Thorough knowledge of and in-depth experience with flow cytometry and real-time PCR are key strengths
