Job Description:
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our research team on nature-based solutions (NBS). The successful candidate will work on interdisciplinary projects aimed at promoting the integration of NBS in environmental management and sustainable urban development.
Responsibilities:
– Research and Development: Conduct original research on NBS, including the design and implementation of field projects, data analysis, and publication of results in high-level scientific journals.
– Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with experts in ecology, hydrology, urban planning, and other relevant disciplines to develop innovative and integrated solutions.
– Analysis and Modeling: Use modeling tools to evaluate the impact of NBS on climate resilience, biodiversity, and urban quality of life.
– Communication and Dissemination: Prepare and present reports, scientific articles, and presentations for international conferences. Participate in workshops and seminars to disseminate research results.
– Project Management: Contribute to the management of research projects, including writing funding proposals, coordinating with partners, and monitoring budgets.
Required Qualifications:
– PhD: A PhD in ecology, biology, environmental sciences, civil engineering, or a related field.
– Experience in NBS: A solid background in researching and applying NBS, demonstrated by relevant publications and research projects or expertise which can be in the following areas (non-exhaustive list):Green roofs and walls: Installing vegetation on roofs and building walls to reduce urban heat islands, improve air quality, and provide habitats for biodiversity in an arid zone context;Ecological corridors, greenways: Creating natural passages that connect fragmented habitats to allow for the movement and migration of species, thus increasing biodiversity;Urban arid “forests”: Planting trees and creating green spaces in urban areas to improve air quality, provide shade, reduce ambient temperature, and offer recreational spaces for communities.

– Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas to diverse audiences.
– Languages: Proficiency in English and French, both written and spoken.
Strong experience in NBS research and application, demonstrated by relevant publications and research projects.
