Description of the position:
This position aims to tackle corrosion and wear-related problems faced by our client on multiple components by analyzing maintenance data, performing failure analysis and giving recommendations backed by laboratory testing and emulation results. The candidate must be comfortable with operating in both a research and industrial setting, travel frequently to the client’s sites, communicate with multiple stakeholders (industrial client, suppliers, researchers, …), while being able to perform the expected research objectives. We seek highly motivated individuals that can propose solutions applicable in the industrial setting and develop innovative methods of testing the proposed solutions in-lab prior to their implementation.
The candidates must hold a PhD in Metallurgy, electrochemistry, mechanical engineering or related domain. They must exhibit hands-on experience with electrochemical corrosion tests, alloy preparation techniques (cold mounting, cutting, polishing) as well as characterization techniques such as Hardness tests, XRD, SEM, Profilometry, and spark-emission spectroscopy. They must have proven ability to conduct independent research, analyze data, and communicate results effectively through publications. A hands-on experience in failure analysis is preferred.

Education
——————
A Ph.D. in in Metallurgy, electrochemistry, mechanical engineering, or related field.

Requirement
——————
– Perform failure analysis on components recuperated onsite and analyze samples of the working environment.
– Analyze maintenance and process data for root cause analysis.
– Develop testing methods adapted to each studied component and working conditions for characterization and classification purposes.
– Perform metallurgical tests including melting, cutting, heat treating, etching, and polishing alloy samples
