YOUR TASKS
– At least 70% of your assignment will be spent on scientific research. In particular, implementation, reporting (incl. publication and presentation) and coordination of ecotoxicological research of micropollutants, including associated chemical analyses
– You support (in consultation with the head of the GhEnToxLab research group) the coordination and reporting of ongoing and new research projects (EU, Belgian government, FWO, …), including supervision of PhD students in this context
– You support the fundraising of the research group (e.g. writing project applications)
– You contribute to English-language education at master’s level related to ecotoxicology, in particular supervision of students in the context of exercises, internships and master’s thesis and support in keeping this education up-to-date
– You supervise master’s thesis students in the context of their master’s thesis
– You support internal and external services of the research group
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
– You hold a doctoral degree in Bioscience Engineering, Environmental Science, or Applied Biological Science (or similar). The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted
– You have already conducted research in the field of Ecotoxicology and/or Risk Assessment of Chemicals
– You have distinguished yourself as a promising researcher during your PhD work and have specific experience with research in aquatic ecotoxicology (demonstrable by publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at conferences)
– You are able to monitor and/or supervise multiple research projects simultaneously (good at planning)
– You have a strong interest in student supervision in the academic program and you have experience in supervising research by master students in the context of their master thesis
– You have relevant scientific publications in international and national scientific journals that are widely distributed and that call upon experts to assess the submitted manuscripts
– You are prepared to support the research group in fundraising and writing project applications
– You are prepared to support the master education and internal and external services of the research group, where necessary
– You can express yourself scientifically fluently in English (both orally and in writing)
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
– We offer you a temporary appointment for a period of 1 year. The appointment cannot be renewed
– Even if you have already been appointed earlier (whether or not at another university and whether or not in the same field of discipline) in a first term of up to 3 years, you can apply. The second appointment does not have to be immediately connected to a first term
– Your appointment will start on 1 February 2025 at the earliest
– Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP5. More information about our salary scales
