The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational catalysis starting April, 1st, 2025, or as soon as possible after that for two years. The starting time is negotiable especially in the case of candidates who are close to finishing their PhD studies.The LUSHcat project explores the catalytic hydrotreatment of lignin by computational methods. The purpose of this project is to describe how hydrotreatment of lignin proceeds at the atomic level using computational methods based on density functional theory and microkinetic modelling.As a postdoctoral researcher you will be responsible for developing workflows and microkinetic models for hydrogenation reactions of lignin model compounds.

A successful candidate should have the following:Strong expertise in DFT calculations and programmingDoctoral degree in Chemistry, Physics, or Chemical technologyExperience in method development such as machine learning methods and/or microkinetic modelling is considered an advantage for the applicant.The duties, qualification requirements, and language skills of a postdoctoral researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The PhD degree required for the position must have been completed before the starting date. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.
