Turku Bioscience Centre has an open position for a postdoctoral researcher. The position is until December 31, 2027. The start date is March 1st 2025, but is negotiable.The Medical Bioinformatics Centre (https://elolab.utu.fi) at Turku Bioscience Centre is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join our Research Council of Finland-funded project, focused on utilizing EuroHPC high-performance computing resources for the analysis of proteomics data with advanced artificial intelligence methods techniques. The project is a joint effort between Universities of Turku and Colorado, the IT Center for Science (CSC/ELIXIR), and EMBL-EBI.Job descriptionThe aim of the project is to develop a high-performance computing framework for mass spectrometry proteomics to enhance efficient processing and interpretation of the large-scale datasets using deep learning algorithms and GPU computing. To ensure broad applicability and robustness of the framework, it will be rigorously assessed using both synthetic and real-world study settings, with focus on identifying new early disease biomarkers. The tasks of the postdoctoral researcher include development and testing of the high-performance computing framework. Additionally, the position involves collaboration with multidisciplinary research teams and following the rapidly developing latest methods in the field.

The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in a suitable field (computer science, data science, bioinformatics, or similar). We may also consider applicants who have not yet completed their doctoral degree but are graduating soon. We are looking for a researcher with a proficient understanding of high-performance computing and good programming skills. The position requires a proactive approach in problem solving, self-direction and good cooperation skills. Fluent oral and written English is essential. The average monthly salary, depending on previous experience and skills, is around 3500 – 4100 euros per month for postdoctoral researcher at the beginning of the employment. In case the selected person has not yet finalized their doctoral degree, then the job title will be for a short period of time a project researcher and then the average salary will be 3100 – 3300 euros per month.
