Project Researcher / Doctoral Researcher
Position Details (PhD Research Project)
Turku PET Centre is looking for a Project Researcher or Doctoral Researcher in PET imaging for a fixed-term position lasting approximately 2.5 years, starting no later than 1 February 2026 (exact start date negotiable), ending 31 August, 2028. The position may be extended after this date.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled researcher for our project, which involves developing new methods for modeling and reconstructing total body (large axial field of view) PET data. The project is led by Docent Jarmo Teuho and funded by the Academy of Finland.
Job description
Your responsibility is the following: to develop kinetic modelling and new reconstruction methods for total body (large axial field of view) PET/CT, analyse and report data and participate as a member of the research group and conduct scientific publishing, supervision and reporting actions as part of your PhD and as a part of a larger research group.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a candidate with an Medical Physics or Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent) background. Preferably you already have some experience from imaging methods, especially PET imaging.
The position requires excellent programming skills with Python and MATLAB. Preferably, you are able to provide some proven examples. Additional programming skills and knowledge of GPU programming are a plus, but are not essential requirements.
The essential skills we require are good written and spoken English skills, and the ability to communicate clearly, capability for independent research work and scientific publishing, as well as group work skills.
A Doctoral Researcher must have a study right in the Turku University Doctoral Programme, otherwise the title of a Project Researcher is used. To be eligible for the post of Project Researcher, candidates must have a Master's degree by the closing date for applications.
