Your Responsibilities

  • Writing a dissertation at the University of Graz in the field of Systems Sciences
  • Independent and cooperative research in one of the following subject areas:
    • Sustainability and cooperation in complex systems, e.g. quantitative analyses of socio-ecological systems
    • Innovation research at the interface between bionics, patent analyses and creativity techniques
    • Computer-based systems science, e.g. modelling of energy systems with the aim of writing a dissertation
  • Participation in research projects and their initiation
  • Conducting courses and supervising students
  • Participation in university administration and organizational tasks of the institute
  • Writing a dissertation at the University of Graz in the field of Systems Sciences

Your Profile

  • Completed master’s degree in environmental systems science, computer science, mathematics, physics or other equivalent diploma or master´s degree in areas with a computational focus
  • Very good knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Sustainability and cooperation in complex systems, innovation research, bionics, modeling of energy systems
  • Very good knowledge of English (required)
  • Very good programming skills (required)
  • Experience with R or Python (desirable)
  • Good knowledge of mathematics (desirable)
  • Scientific interest in Systems Sciences and their computational methods
  • Very good German skills (desirable)
  • Experiences in one of the areas: machine learning, data science, or agent-based modelling (desirable)
  • Experience in the conception and implementation of research projects (desirable)
  • Ability for independent research work
  • Strong team and organizational skills
  • High commitment and motivation for scientific work
  • Personal and social skills in working in international and interdisciplinary teams

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 52.007,20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
