Do you have a talent for networking, presenting and creating societal impact? Do you want to contribute to the valorisation of pioneering research in big data policing? The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded a prestigious Consolidator Grant to Prof. dr. Wim Hardyns of the Department of Criminology, Criminal law and Social Law (Ghent University). For the ambitious BIGDATPOL project, we are looking for a talented scientific staff member to translate research into impact for policymakers, public and private partners and other stakeholders.
About the BIGDATPOL project
Big data policing uses advanced statistical methods to analyse, predict and prevent crime patterns. This project combines data science with social sciences to develop an evidence-based model that will be tested in several European cities. A unique opportunity to connect theory and practice and realise direct impact in society.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
– You hold a Master’s degree or a PhD in any discipline. We are looking for candidates who are driven and have an affinity for networking, communication and social impact.
– Communication and networking skills: Strong in establishing contacts and presenting to diverse audiences.
– Interest in valorisation: Passion for connecting scientific research with societal and economic applications. Experience in stakeholder management, policy-oriented work or networking is a plus.
– Language skills: Excellent English (knowledge of Dutch is a plus).
– Personal qualities: Proactive attitude, team spirit, independence, eye for detail, flexibility and enthusiasm to build bridges between science and practice.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
– We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of four months (in case of a positive evaluation after four months, your appointment will be extended by mutual agreement).
– Your contract will start on 1/02/2025 at the earliest.
– Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales.
