Department Name: Institute of Geology

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Applied Geology from Arba Minch University, graduated in 2011. My academic training provided a comprehensive foundation in core geological disciplines, including structural geology, petrology, sedimentology, mineralogy, and hydrogeology. The curriculum emphasized both theoretical knowledge and extensive fieldwork, with hands-on experience in geological mapping, rock and soil sampling, stratigraphic logging, and microscopic analysis of thin sections. I also developed proficiency in industry-relevant tools such as ArcGIS for spatial data analysis and Microsoft Excel for geochemical data processing and visualization. My final-year thesis, titled “Siutabe Quarry Site Investigation for Construction Material Around Arba Minch Town,” involved field mapping, sample collection, and laboratory testing to evaluate the physical and mechanical properties of rock materials for construction suitability. This project sharpened my abilities in scientific inquiry, data interpretation, technical report writing, and project management. Throughout my studies, I cultivated a strong commitment to applied geosciences and sustainable resource utilization, preparing me for advanced research or professional practice in the field.
