Position Details (PhD Research Project)

The Institute for Tax Law is part of the broader Economic Law Research Unit.
The Institute conducts research in tax law. This vacancy concerns a PhD position in tax law.

Project

This position, which aims to result in a joint doctoral degree from KU Leuven and Ghent University, involves fundamental research in the field of tax law. The research topic will be determined in consultation with both supervisors.
You will be appointed 50% at KU Leuven and 50% at Ghent University and will conduct research under the supervision of Prof. Filip Debelva (KU Leuven, supervisor) and Prof. Mark Delanote (Ghent University, supervisor).
Up to 10% of your time may be spent on teaching tasks not directly related to your own doctoral research, such as teaching practical exercises, supervising bachelor's theses, acting as a second reader for master's theses, invigilating exams, and marking exams.

Profile

  • Youhold a Master’s degree in Law, a Master’s in (Applied) Economics, or an equivalent qualification. A Master’s degree in Taxation is considered an asset.
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
  • You have an excellent knowledge of tax law.
  • You have strong writing skills and can draft legal texts in a clear and structured manner.
  • You can work independently, but you also work well in a team and you show initiative.
  • You are capable of successfully completing a doctoral research.

Offer

We offer a fixed-term part-time position for 1 year, renewable for a total of up to 4 years. This position is linked to a part-time position at Ghent University.
