Postdoctoral fellow for leukemia research
Position Details (Postdoc)
The ADVANTAGE Division of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences studies human diseases at the molecular level and develops novel therapeutic strategies (gene therapy, CAR-T cells, cell therapy, small molecules).
The division is housed in the interdepartmental research facility MolMed in O&N5bis at Gasthuisberg. MolMed offers state-of-the-art research facilities for Molecular Medicine in an interdisciplinary and translational environment.
Professor Debyser's group is world-renowned for its research on LEDGF/p75 as a host factor for HIV integration and MLL leukemia.
The leukemia research focuses on the therapy of mixed lineage leukemia and AML. As part of the European Project ArtCell, which aims to develop artificial CAR-T cells, the group is seeking a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in oncology, including animal research using mouse models.

Responsibilities
We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher with expertise in oncology and experimental animal model research (mouse).
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for conducting and coordinating research tasks within the European Project ART-Cell, which is developing artificial CAR-T cells.
Specifically, various versions of these therapeutics will be tested in cell culture and in animal models for activity and toxicity. There is also the opportunity to optimize the developed systems through basic and translational research.
Existing expertise in LEDGF cell biology and its role in leukemia can contribute to this.
Profile
A PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry), Bioengineering Sciences, or Veterinary Sciences with at least two first-name research articles in peer-reviewed journals is required. International experience is a plus. Expertise in oncology and/or cell biology is required. Experience and certification for animal research are a plus.
Offer
A two-year postdoc position within an ambitious European research program, located in a competitive research laboratory with state-of-the-art facilities in an interdisciplinary environment.
