The University of Eastern Finland is inviting applications foraPostdoctoral Researcher positioninthe field ofBioinformatics and single cellmultiomics. Role and salary
We are looking foranenthusiastic, broadly knowledgeable Postdoctoral Researcher whoisfamiliar withbioinformatics,systems biology,multiomicsand single cellmethodologyto drive projectsfocusing onmodellingleukemiaandimmune cell dynamicswith the goal todevelop newpersonalised medicineapproaches.
As our new Postdoctoral Researcher inBioinformatics andmultiomics, your researchfocus will be on integratingand modellingpatienttranscriptome, metabolomeand proteomedataat single cell resolutionwith the aim to connect these profiles with the underlyingintra- and intercellular regulatory networks, andto capture immune system/diseasestatesinmulti-omics models.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with abroad-basedinternational and interdisciplinaryteam of leadingexperts inleukemiabiology,immunology,gene regulation,andcomputationalbiology, as well asclinicians.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- planning and conducting data-driven studies related to leukemia biology and immunology,
- benchmarking and developing statistical, AI and systems biology methodology for multiomics data,
- reporting and creating high-quality scientific publications,
- participating in the preparation of research proposals in your field.
Other responsibilities include the co-supervision of PhD students. The researcher canparticipateingiving teaching toundergraduatestudentsin their expert area.
The positionwill be filled for a3-year term from 1 April2026onwards (or as agreed). The positionwill be filled for a fixed term due toitpertaining tomethoddevelopmentand data integrationin a specific project. Aprobationary period is applied to all new members of the staff.
The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system of the Finnish universities. The salary comprises two components: a job requirement component and a personal performance component. In this position, the job requirement component is 3,293.89 euros/month, based on level 5 of the job requirement chart for teaching and research staff. The personal performance component can be a minimum of 6 % and a maximum of 50 % of the above-mentioned sum. Depending on the personal performance component, the salary will be approximately 3,620 – 4,020 €/month at the beginning of the employment relationship.

We are looking for a researcher who shows initiative and self-driven, enthusiastic about solving biomedical problems, and rigorous in their scientific work.
Requirements
- A doctoral degree in a field relevant to the proposed project
- The doctoral degree may not have been completed more than five years ago at the time of accepting the position (a net period of time, which does not include parental leaves, military service etc.)
- Excellent/good skills in spoken and written English. English is used as the language of instruction and supervision in this position.
Expectations
- A formal background in bioinformatics or related fields
- Practical experience with omics data analysis in a biomedical context
- A solid knowledge of single cell omics technologies and data analysis
- A strong research record

Haemme tutkijatohtoria Itä-Suomen yliopiston terveystieteiden tiedekuntaan. Tehtävä sijoittuu lääketieteen laitokselle, biolääketieteen yksikköön Kuopion kampukselle. The Faculty of Health Sciences operates at the Kuopio Campus of the University of Eastern Finland.
