The Department of Chemistry, in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science is currently seeking to recruittwoPostdoctoralResearchers in Organic and Supramolecular Chemistrystarting as soon as possible, but no later than June 1st, 2026, for two years. The postdoctoral researcher will work in the group of Associate Professor Fabien Cougnon at the Department of Chemistry. The group is specialized in the development of new strategies to access entangled molecules, such as molecular knots. The goal of these projects is to construct particularly complex knotted macromolecules and / or polymers from oligophenylene strands.
Who we are looking for
Previous experience in supramolecular chemistry and/or multi-steps organic synthesis is recommended. Experience in molecular nanotopology, foldamer chemistry, or oligophenylene synthesis is particularly relevant. Prerequisites for the positions include thorough working methods, team player attitude, and the ability to work with good levels of independence. The new group member is expected to actively participate in group meetings and undergraduate / graduate students’ supervision. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, are required.
The duties, qualification requirements, and language skills of a postdoctoral researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The PhD degreerequiredfor the position must have been completed before the starting date. A trial period of six months willbe usedinthe beginning of the employmentperiod.
