Your role

The Medical Team of the faculty is in a constant development. Our research initiative, in collaboration with clinical partners, is thriving as we explore the effects of fasting and caloric restriction on chronic conditions, including Long Covid and neurodegenerative diseases. The department also closely cooperates with the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB), an interdisciplinary centre of the University of Luxembourg, combining experimental, medical and computational approaches to analyze complex biological systems and disease processes.

In this frame, the Medical Team aims at hiring a highly skilled candidate as Postdoctoral researcher to streamline our operations and enhance our research endeavors.

Responsabilities:

  • Explore, develop and conduct scientific concepts for clinical and experimental research projects with focus on, but not exclusively, chronic diseases, e.g. LongCovid, neurodegeneration
  • A particular focus will rely on the impact of the microbiome, caloric restriction, fasting and fasting mimicking diets to implement in a clinical setting
  • Plan and conduct experiments in the context of clinical research such as gathering and processing of patient derived material, analysis of samples using standard and high throughput biomedical methodologies
  • Analyze and interpret data and results, particularly in collaboration with computational biology experts and prepare comprehensive documentation of findings.
  • Foster and manage relationships with internal and external partners to support collaborative efforts and strategic alignment.
  • Patient recruitment, pre-and postanalytical handling of sample
  • Participate in clinical and laboratory research, with a focus on designing and conducting in vitro experiments that do not involve laboratory animals
  • Regularly write progress reports, document research projects, contribute to scientific manuscripts, and prepare presentations for internal and external scientific meetings as well as grant proposals

Your profile

  • PhD in natural sciences (preferably medicine, human biology, biochemistry)
  • Knowledge of molecular biology and medical (patho)physiology
  • Ability to write papers, reports and grant applications
  • Good self-organisational and communication skills for a small team
  • Flexibility to quickly adapt to new tasks (multitasking)
  • Ability to travel to cooperation partners within the greater region (UniGR)
