Position Details (PhD Research Project)

Advance Earth Observation with passive radar and 6G networks!
Join our cutting-edge research at the intersection of radar, signal processing and satellite communication. As a Doctoral student, you'll help develop innovative remote sensing capabilities and be part of a dynamic, international team shaping the future of Earth Observation!

About us

The Department of Space, Earth and Environment brings together expertise in space, geoscience, energy and sustainability. Through curiosity-driven research, education and collaboration, we explore the Universe, the Earth and the complex systems linking environment, energy and society – enabling knowledge-based solutions for a sustainable future.

At the Division of Geoscience and Remote Sensing, we conduct research, education, and utilization within a wide range of scientific and engineering disciplines, using ground-based, airborne and satellite measurements, and numerical modeling.

About the research project

We are looking for a Doctoral student to participate in the development of passive radar capabilities in future 6G networks. These communication systems will integrate terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks where communication signals are linked via satellites. A portion of the communication signal is reflected from the Earth's surface and can be received and used for passive radar observations. This position is a unique opportunity to work at the crossroads of radar, signal processing, communication and Earth observation with a multidisciplinary team of international experts.
