Postdoctoral Scholarship in Cell and Molecular Biology
Position Details (Postdoc)
This postdoctoral scholarship is placed at the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Application deadline: 2026-01-31.
Project
The focus of this project is to understand at a molecular level the functional capacity of the molecular chaperone CCT/TRiC. Specifically, there will be a focus on the activities of the CCT subunits in their monomeric forms, using cultured mammalian cells as a model system. The scholarship holder will be actively engaged in this laboratory-based project and is also expected to engage in both project planning and writing/communicating research findings. Specific training opportunities will include, for example, instrument training for fluorescent microscopy as needed. Attendance at workshops and conferences will be encouraged.
Keywords: molecular chaperone, chaperonin, cytoskeleton
The project is available initially for a period of 12 months with the possibility to extend by a further 12 months, subject to approval from the funding agency (The Carl Trygger Foundation).
Qualifications
The applicant must hold a PhD in Molecular biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or similar. The PhD viva needs to be completed before the scholarship starts. The applicant needs to have experience in techniques commonly used in cell biology/protein biochemistry. In particular, the following techniques are an advantage:
Mammalian cell culture (including siRNA and transient transfection), Quantitative RT-PCR, Protein:protein interaction studies, Fluorescence microscopy.
The applicant must be fluent in written and spoken English.
Application
A written application in the form of a single pdf file is to be sent via E-mail to the supervisor Professor Julie Grantham, [emailprotected], and must include the following:
- Personal letter stating the reasons why the study suits the applicant (maximum one page)
