for the Chair of Theoretical Philosophy
at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Neuchâtel
Start date:March 1, 2026, or by agreement.
Contract duration: 1 year, renewable three times (4 years in total).
Salary: Based on current 2025 salary figures, a doctoral assistant at 83% receives an annual salary of CHF 61’423.70 in their first year; CHF 64’216.69 in their second year; CHF 67’009.14 in their third year; and CHF 72’591.34 in their fourth year. Updated salary figures for subsequent years are not yet available.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Conduct research for a doctoral thesis under the supervision of Professor Kathrin Koslicki;
- Teach two hours per week;
- Participate in the evaluation and supervision of exams;
- Supervise and advise students;
- Be actively involved in the development of the Institute of Philosophy (organizing conferences, promoting philosophy, etc.);
- Participate in the weekly research seminar as well as other seminars and conferences organized by the Institute;
- Present work related to your doctoral research at international seminars;
- Participate in doctoral schools and other doctoral-level training programs;
- Publish articles related to the thesis;
- Plan a stay abroad during the thesis;
- Be present at the Institute on a daily basis (an office and computer equipment will be provided).
Desired profile:
- Master’s degree in philosophy.
- Solid foundation in logic and metaphysics.
- Curiosity and ability to conduct original research.
- Autonomy and initiative.
- Excellent teaching skills.
- Mastery of French and English.
