Position Details (Master's)
The Dementia Studies program offered by the Bangor University builds upon existing theoreticalperspectives and research evidenceunderpinning applied health and social carepractice in the field of dementia care.
It criticallyexamines current theory, practice and policy inorder to advance appropriate approaches todementia care from the disciplines of mentalhealth, health and social care management.
Thecourse seeks to develop a framework forstudents to engage in active person- and familycentredcare of people with dementia acrossdiverse acute and community settings.
Itpositions assessment, care planning andinterventions as strategies that respond to thecomplexity of dementia as a lived experience,including attention to bilingual therapeuticinterventions in order to develop excellence inservice delivery.
Careers
This program provides student-focusedlearning that critically examines both the theoryand practice framing contemporary approachesto health and social care management for peoplewith dementia.
It has no placements or clinicalcompetencies, making it suitable for local andinternational candidates who wish to study at thislevel as a career requirement or for academicprogression.
