Clinical Exercise Physiology
Position Details (Master's)
The Clinical Exercise Physiology program from Loughborough University is aimed at individuals with a background in exercise science and/or physical activity who wish to enhance their scientific knowledge and skills to effectively promote the uptake of exercise, particularly for patients with hypertension, diabetes, pulmonary, renal and cardiac conditions, or those at risk of metabolic syndrome.
This MSc will therefore educate a new, highly skilled group of allied health professionals with the ability to work alongside clinicians and practitioners to manage the epidemic of lifestyle-related diseases and conditions.
Based in the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine – East Midlands, you will be taught in high quality teaching environments and have access to state-of-the-art laboratories, designed to facilitate the transfer of cutting-edge research to front-line support and care.

This program is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge to work alongside clinicians, practitioners and policymakers in the management of lifestyle-related diseases and conditions.
Graduate destinations include, among others, various clinical exercise physiology and cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation roles (e.g., NHS, BUPA, Nuffield Health) and a number of funded exercise and health-oriented PhD studentships.
Postgraduates from the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences have also gone on to take up varied positions with organisations including: Spire; BMI; AXA; Public Health England; NHS Digital; National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine; Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre; DSTL; the Ministry of Defence; NHS 111; numerous lifestyle coaching companies; various health app and/or wearable tech companies, and a growing number of physical activity counselling companies.
