Fabrizio Gabbiani is a Professor of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine and a member of the Rice University Neuroengineering Initiative. His research investigates neural computation and sensory processing, with a focus on the neuronal mechanisms underlying collision detection and visually guided behaviors, often using insect model systems such as locusts. Gabbiani’s lab combines electrophysiology, behavior, computational modeling, and neuroanatomy to uncover principles of information processing in neural circuits. He leads a multidisciplinary team and collaborates across institutions to advance neuroengineering and systems neuroscience, contributing widely cited findings on how nervous systems encode and act upon sensory information.
