Jill Bargonetti is a Professor of Biological Sciences at CUNY Hunter College and a faculty member of the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research investigates the p53 tumor suppressor pathway, mutant p53 gain-of-function mechanisms, and chromatin regulation in breast cancer. Bargonetti’s lab integrates molecular biology, genomics, and cell biology to understand how p53 status influences transcriptional programs and tumor progression, with a focus on triple-negative breast cancer. She has authored influential publications on p53-mediated transcription and genome stability and leads a diverse research team committed to cancer biology, mentorship, and advancing translational insights for improved cancer therapies.
