Alexey Lipatov

Alexey Lipatov is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, where he leads the Lipatov Lab. His research focuses on two-dimensional materials, energy storage, and sensing technologies, with applications spanning sustainable energy and advanced device engineering. He develops novel materials and device architectures to improve performance, stability, and scalability. At SDSMT, he mentors graduate and undergraduate researchers and collaborates across disciplines to translate fundamental materials insights into practical technologies. His group emphasizes experimental materials synthesis, device fabrication, and characterization to address pressing challenges in energy and sensing.
