Peter Bierhorst is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of New Orleans. His work centers on quantum information theory with a focus on device-independent cryptography, Bell test experiments, and randomness generation. He has contributed to landmark experiments demonstrating loophole-free Bell inequality violations and certified quantum randomness. At UNO, he leads research at the interface of mathematics, physics, and computer science, collaborating with national labs and industry partners on quantum-secure technologies. He mentors graduate and undergraduate researchers, develops interdisciplinary curricula in quantum information, and actively engages in outreach to expand participation in the quantum sciences.
