Biomedical Engineer with a master's degree in advanced therapies, neuroscience research, and actively pursuing a

Hello, I’m Nicolas.
I am a Biomedical Engineer with a Master’s degree in Biomedicine and Advanced Therapies, passionate about research in neuroscience, deep brain stimulation (DBS), and neuroimaging analysis (EEG, fMRI). I have experience in clinical engineering, biomedical metrology, cell culture, and translational research applied to personalized medicine. I am currently developing a master’s thesis focused on the study of neuronal connectivity and the effects of advanced therapies through simulation and neurophysiological data analysis.

I seek to continue my academic career with a PhD in neuroscience or bioengineering, contributing to the advancement of innovative therapeutic solutions for neurological diseases.

I am currently part of the research team at the Cajal Institute of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), where I develop activities focused on the processing, analysis, and visualization of neurophysiological data (EEG, MEG, fMRI) with the aim of studying functional and structural brain connectivity through multimodal neuroimaging approaches.

My work focuses on translational research, especially in the context of early diagnosis and characterization of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, seeking to provide tools that promote more effective therapeutic interventions.

Furthermore, I am actively involved in the implementation of reproducible analysis environments through the creation and deployment of Docker containers, allowing for greater standardization and portability of scientific workflows. I use programming languages such as Python and MATLAB to develop custom scripts for signal analysis, feature extraction, neural synchronization, and model simulations.

I also have experience using and managing high-performance computing (HPC) clusters, which allows me to run large-scale analyses and optimize processing times for large volumes of neurophysiological data.
