Your Responsibilities

  • Academic examination of Italian-language literatures/French-language literatures in the Romance-speaking world
  • Independent research in Romance-language literary/cultural studies with the possibility of Habilitation
  • Participation in research projects of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Steffen Schneider and in the Core Research Area of the Faculty of Humanities Trans-mediterranean Entanglements
  • Organisation of conferences
  • University teaching in Romance literary and cultural studies and supervision of students
  • Participation in examination work at the Department of Romance Studies
  • Contribution to raising the profile of the Departmentof Romance Studies/the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Graz in the area of literary and cultural studies
  • Participation in organisational and administrative tasks as well as evaluation measures at the Department of Romance Studies

*with the option to increase after 2 years

Your Profile

  • Doctoral degree in Romance studies, in the field of Romance-language literary studies
  • Outline for a research/Habilitation project in the field of Romance-language literary studies (Italian or French literatures)
  • Excellent language competence in Italian
  • Excellent language competence in French
  • Very good language competence in German
  • Interest in Mediterranean research and/or ecocritical issues
  • Relevant international experience
  • Experience in organizing conferences and academic projects
  • Experience in university teaching (familiarity with digital third-level teaching)
  • Scholarly curiosity
  • Initiative and dedication such as good communication and team skills

We kindly ask you to submit your PhD thesis, 2 scientific articles and a concept for a research project/Habilitation project in Romance literary studies (max. 10 pages) with your application.

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 70.200,20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
