Your Responsibilities
- Independent and collaborative research in the field of environmental systems science with a focus on system modeling and sustainability assessment
- Teaching courses in the above-mentioned field and supervising bachelor's and master's students
- Developing a research profile in the field of environmental systems science, sustainability or innovation research
- Collaborative application for third-party funded research projects
- Participating in university self-administration and organizational tasks at the institute
Your Profile
- Completed doctorate in environmental systems science, innovation and sustainability research, mathematics, physics, or a related subject
- Very good knowledge in one or more of the following research areas:
- System modeling and simulation (system dynamics, agent-based)
- System optimization
- Sustainability assessment in the field of innovation and technology research
- Experience in the fields of biomass research, resource use, wood value chains, and bio-based product and process innovations
- Very good knowledge of modeling wood-based systems and their sustainability aspects, especially in a sectoral and regional context
- Very good English and German language skills
- Very good programming skills (Python), experience with system modeling software (Stella, Vensim, Netlogo, or similar)
- Experience working in an interdisciplinary context with perspectives from the natural sciences, social sciences, and economics
- Scientific publishing activity
- Interest in complex systems and interrelationships
- Experience in designing and conducting research projects
- Teaching experience
- Ability to conduct independent research, strong teamwork and organizational skills
- High level of commitment and motivation for scientific work
- Skills in working in international and interdisciplinary teams
- The position offers the opportunity to obtain a postdoctoral qualification
