Xiangyang Dong is an Assistant Professor in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy at Arizona State University. His research focuses on materials and interfaces for next-generation energy storage, with emphasis on solid-state and lithium-based batteries. He investigates interfacial chemistry, ion transport, and degradation mechanisms to enable safer, higher-performance batteries. Dong integrates advanced materials synthesis with in situ and operando characterization and multi-scale modeling to guide device design. He collaborates across disciplines to translate fundamental insights into practical technologies, pursuing improved energy density, longevity, and safety for applications spanning electric vehicles, grid storage, and portable electronics.
