Lai-Sheng Wang is a Professor of Chemistry at Brown University known for pioneering studies of atomic clusters and nanostructures. His group develops and applies photoelectron spectroscopy to elucidate electronic structures, chemical bonding, and novel phenomena in clusters and materials. Wang has advanced understanding of superhalogens, superatoms, boron clusters, and 2D materials, often revealing unexpected stability and reactivity patterns. He leads experimental efforts combining molecular beam techniques with high-resolution spectroscopy and collaborates broadly to connect cluster science with catalysis and materials design. At Brown, he mentors students and postdocs and contributes to the broader chemical physics community through research and service.
