David A. Micklos is a Professor at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and founding executive director of the DNA Learning Center (DNALC). He pioneered hands-on molecular biology education for students and teachers globally, developing curricula, labs, and digital resources that democratize access to genetics and genomics. Under his leadership, DNALC established a network of teaching facilities and partnerships that reach hundreds of thousands annually. Micklos has authored widely used educational materials and led initiatives integrating DNA barcoding and other inquiry-based programs into classrooms.
