Alex Chortos is an Assistant Professor at Purdue University whose research integrates materials science, electronics, and bioengineering to create soft, stretchable devices for healthcare and human–machine interfaces. His work spans stretchable conductors, pressure and strain sensors, and electronic skins that conform to the body. He coauthored advances in soft magnetic composites enabling mechanically robust, flexible magnetic materials, and he develops bioinspired sensor architectures for precise tactile sensing. Chortos collaborates across disciplines to translate fundamental materials innovations into wearable and implantable systems for monitoring physiology and enhancing prosthetics, aiming to bridge rigid electronics with the dynamic mechanics of biological tissues.
