Kyle B. Westfall is an Associate Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His research centers on the kinematics and stellar populations of nearby galaxies, leveraging integral-field spectroscopy and advanced data analysis to map their dynamical structures. He is a leading developer of data pipelines for large spectroscopic surveys, including tools for extracting spatially resolved stellar and gas properties. Westfall’s work emphasizes robust, reproducible analysis methods that enable precise measurements across extensive datasets. At UC Santa Cruz, he teaches, mentors students, and collaborates widely to advance our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution.
